The grip is grippy but won't eat your pocket lining like knurling can. The clip will keep it oriented in your pocket, but the pencil is heavy enough that you should not expect a pocket clip to keep is secured if you were running or jumping or something silly like that. The clutch mechanism is the same solid mechanim that Koh-i-Noor uses in every 5.6 lead holder I've ever seen from them.There is a sharpener (aka "pointer") under the cap, but if you use it, graphite dust will fall through your pencil when you extend the lead unless you're super careful about cleaning out the sharpener before putting it back on the pencil. Better just to use another sharpener (or learn to sharpen it on sandpaper or with a pocket knife).I liked itI own a metal one , but this made of composite is just fantastic
