Mine came defective, so I returned. I liked it, and it was bright AF; it just wouldn't detect motion. It was either on or off. I didn't ask for a replacement, because I'd already ordered another kind, but I imagine that the ones that work would make decent lights, on top of being powered for free. ?I have a backyard deck that measures 20‘ x 22‘. I attached this light to a 2 inch diameter PVC pipe that is 10 feet high. I strapped the pipe to A 4 x 4 that is 8 feet tall and previously embedded in concrete in the ground. Since installation, this light has provided a perfect, unobtrusive light whenever it is dark. The light automatically increases when someone comes onto the deck. With a single light I have provided a measure of security and safety for my deck area.I have read the five star reviews that have thus far been published with regard to this light, and I agree with all of their positive comments.I was surprised in how bright it was A lil hard to instal but you can do it the big solar panel does the job of charging the battery real good overall a good value for the price.I've ordered five different varieties of solar lights and this one is right at the top of my favorites. It was easy to install and I appreciate the remote control. I like that the solar panel can be adjusted to reach it's best light source without affecting the angle needed for the light to shine where it's intended. For the price ($139 at time of order) it is well worth the money. We needed more light on our property where we don't have an electric run. This light sure is making a difference. It is extremely bright and the motion detection works great. We will be adding more of these to our property. I would definitely recommend.Great light, I put this on the back side of a barn with no electric. Motion detector works great, picked up my dog moving by it. Nice increase in brightness when motion detected.I'm not ready to install this unit where it will reside permanently, but I did take it out of the box and put it together. It's heavier than I imagined it would be, and will need a solid place to mount it. It not only has a good deal of weight, but the top solar cell will catch a good amount of wind and put strain on whatever you've attached the unit. I realized that the area I was going to attach it isn't adequate, so I'm going to make a 4x4 pole for it, with the dirt end buried in concrete.I took the unit out of the box and put it together. When you attach the solar panel, it activates the internal electronics of the light unit. When you put the solar panel in shadow, the light will go on, when the solar panel is receiving light energy, the light will go off. When you unplug the solar panel from the light unit, the light goes on again. There are no switches or any way to turn off the light, except for a battery powered remote control that is included in the package. Once you put the two included AAA batteries into the remote, you can turn the light unit off. Don't lose that remote! The only complaint from an otherwise easy 5-stars, is that the metal brackets should be made of 304 stainless steel. I'm unsure what sort of metal was used as they are coated, but these are supposed to be exposed to the elements 24/7, and I live within a short distance from the ocean. I've seen the salt air here eat through coated metal like the included brackets within months. The solar panel itself appears to be all aluminum and epoxy, so not worried about it, and the light case also appears to be aluminum and ABS plastic, so that looks solid too. The weak link appears to be the metal joining/installing brackets. If they rust or start to delaminate once I install it, I'll come back and take off a star or two.
